5. The “Gateway to the Sea” Biscayne National Park Private Boat Tour

Okay, finally, let’s talk about the water, because Homestead is the gateway to Biscayne National Park. So, ninety-five percent of this park is actually underwater. A private boat tour is pretty much the only real way to see it properly. This tour is very different from the Everglades one; it’s all about crystal-clear turquoise water, coral reefs, and tiny islands. Our captain was a local who had been boating these waters his whole life, so he knew exactly where to go. We motored out towards the offshore reef, and the view of the Miami skyline from the water was just spectacular.

The best part, frankly, was the snorkeling. The captain anchored in a shallow, protected spot teeming with colorful fish and soft corals. Since it was a private tour, there was no rush, you know.
